Girl Thyme on the Farm

If you've ever wanted to conquer your fear of flying, literally or figuratively, this is your ticket. I could tell from the safety procedures and quality equipment that CanopyTours in the Hocking Hills was top notch. Patty encouraged me to give it a try and the zipline guides were amazingly patient with me when I confessed I was afraid of heights. After about the third zip, I was really enjoying myself.

Woodland Awakening

Celebrate spring, discover adventure and reawaken your life. With a Girls Getaway in the Hocking Hills at The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls,

Spring 2013

The May spring sunshine will be warming the Hocking Hills, awakening nature from her long winter slumber and coaxing the woodland wildflowers into bloom. That’s the time to breathe in the sweet smell of spring and join Stepping Up and Out and the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls for a WELLNESS ADVENTURE GIRLS’ GETAWAY. Step outside your daily routine, step away from hectic schedules, and step up to the spirit of adventure.

Patty Geiger, adventure director and owner of Stepping Up and Out and the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls invite you to renew, rediscover, rejoice — it’s May in the magnificence of the Hocking Hills and spring is here again!

What is a wellness adventure?

  • Wellness is all about how to be and feel well—living a healthy lifestyle and enjoying it.  Eating right, exercising, making time for friends, family and yourself.
  • Adventure fits with wellness because it’s often the antidote for all that “ails” you!   Adventure is about sharpening your senses and altering your perspective so that you see and experience life in new ways.

How do you know when you’re ready for a wellness adventure?

  • Does your inner spirit crave change?
  • Is everyday life feeling constrictive and stressful?
  • Are you weighed down with responsibilities?
  • Do you long for a little downtime for yourself?
  • Or maybe you just want to have some fun?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, you’re ready! Adventure awaits you… You will:

  • Explore Old Man’s Cave with photographer and naturalist Eric Hoffman, who will spin some tales for you about the “Old Man,” while pointing out the unique flora and fauna as we walk. Bring your camera because Eric will be snapping some shots himself and offering expert tips on outdoor photography.
  • Start each day stretching and awakening your body with yoga, enjoying the Inn’s incredible breakfast and then roaming the trails of Hocking Hills State Park with Patty. Hike around Rose Lake, stopping at a scenic spot for your backpack lunch. You’ll hear a few ghost stories about the lake and learn the story of Grandma Gatewood who roamed these hills just like you!
  • Participate in, “Spring Gardening with Herbs,” an activity with the Inn’s gardener, Kellie Hutchison.  She’ll show you how to grow and use your own herbs.
  • Learn at the “Walk & Workout” how to make the most of a 30-minute walk, with Patty, from dynamic warm-up to meditative cool down and also work out with Tim Donahey, CPT, to discover an easy 30-minute, you-can-do-it-at home, strength-building regimen with aerobic components. Good for your brain, body and bones!
  • Take advantage of breaks to relax and pamper yourself at the Inn’s spa with their certified massage therapists. (In addition to package price).
  • Network with the group—girls getting together is always the best fun!

The Woodland Awakening package ($699) includes:

  • Three-night stay at the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls—rustic luxury at its best; private room (single) and private bath—arrive Thursday 5:30 p.m. or later; depart Sunday after breakfast
